“The Village “ revolves around the commercial street in Whitchurch, a busy suburb of Cardiff, Wales. The village of Whitchurch presents a range of shops that offer a variety products and services from groceries to hairdressing.

The photographs attempt to portray aspects the personal characteristics and details of people working within these environments. My other interest is drawing conclusion regarding the relationships between the people within this working environment have with their customers.

My decision to choose environmental portraits was based upon wanting to portray these characteristics within their everyday environment thereby providing clues as to the social nuances of their business which may also inform us as to their personality.

The use of the colour gives an accurate portrayal of the reality of the shop-landscape and item related demographic.
